We know that you've been looking for a stylist to take care of you when you need something different from your day to day; a hair salon that will execute to your satisfaction and give you some tips on your way out as you continue your #naturalmanejourney.
While we work on a new service that ensures you're doing what your hair needs independent of a hair salon and stylist (we get it can be pricey for your wallet), we want to refer you to our reputable list of natural hair salons and stylists in the GTA. Need a birthday style? Vacation braid-up? Protective masterpiece? Our list will maintain your natural hair and have you looking like the empress you are!
1. Afrodisiac Hair
Located in Brampton, Afrodisiac Hair specializes in natural hair care and extensions. She is booked and busy, so make sure to plan in advice for your spot! Owner, Tesha Medley, executes the silk press, never holding onto unhealthy hair while styling, and uses signature products that repair any damage; getting you on track if you've been slipping. She creates hand stitched wig units, hair extensions to your liking, targeted hair treatments and colouring services.
2. Curlflippers
Curlflippers is a brand new salon located in Toronto's east end on the Danforth. They provide natural hair services and training. One of our fave natural hair stylist that did some amazing styles at our launch event has partnered to bring her services to their space. You may know her as Aisha Loobie, the owner of Crown and Glory Natural Hair Studio, but we know her as a creator and enthusiast at best! We highly recommend you view her online catalog via Instagram. With the entire Curl Flippers' team having multiple specialities, they are able to get what you need done.
3. CleanLocs
You know we couldn't create a list without having something just for our loc'd empresses! (and we see you too emperors) Clean Locs is the first loctitian focused and dedicated to getting the gunk out of your hair. Their speciality is removing the lint from your locs without harming it. Loctitian Niya has her own special formula and instruments she uses to satisfy her customers and cleanse their locs of years and years of build up from the beginning of their journey till now. She is located in the Bathurst and Dundas area, in between other street container businesses. Not only is her service natural but so is her work environment!
4. Kinks Hair Studio
Kinks Hair Studio and Spa is known for their professionally trained staff that specializes in curl definition and silk presses. With a passionate professionally trained staff, they customize the right services for your needs and use products like their own Kinksology line. If you're considering transitioning or already have your mind set on doing it, they have services catered specifically for you.
5. Hill Studio
Hill Studio not only styles you naturally to perfection but they incorporate art into their styling floor so you are not just among art, you are art. They also have a professional barber so if you're looking to bring the drama to your hairstyle, look no further! From rod sets to a complete hair refresh, they have a long list of services available but make sure you book in advance, they are often booked weeks ahead.
6. Kye Hair
Kye Hair, located inside Happy's Hair Studio, is a natural hair care stylist out of Scarborough. She's one instrument of the Omega Hair Team, all stylists who specialize in natural hair care. One of their key services is house calls (I know I could use this once in a while) where you receive the luxury of styling in your own home as an add-on to your chosen service. They also have men's services so you and your bae can get pampered at the same time. If you're far east, we highly recommend this empress!
Honourable mention: Caribbean Hair and Nail Care
We had to tell you guys about Caribbean Hair and Nail Care, where they offer installation, styling and customizing services for wigs, frontals, closures and bundles. If you need a wig and don't know where to get one, you can purchase one from their studio. They also do braids, ponytails and more! The team does not exclusively deal with natural hair but they do a mean install and have your braids poppin! And last but not least, you can get your nails done to match your new fresh do! It's a ting! I personally had a wonderful experience, and their gallery speaks for itself. Caribbean Hair and Nail Care is located in Ajax, in the east end of the Greater Toronto Area. Not from the east? We vow that it'll be well worth the trip!
