About Us
Welcome to Empress Mane
Empress Mane is a social enterprise making inclusive changes to the beauty industry, by increasing BIPOC & Black representation and ownership on retail shelves. We are Canada's only beauty retailer that centres the POC and textured hair experience
Our Vision
Empress Mane is an e-commerce next-day delivery beauty retailer with a focus on making positive inclusive changes to the beauty industry. There is no social enterprise that centers the POC and textured hair experience in Canada. That stops with us.
We have served over 10,000 customers and created experiences for them they never had before (check our reviews!) We are honoured to partner with organizations in need of hair products like Youth Without Shelter and Women & Children Precious Shelter, to help those going through transition with items rarely donated. We've proudly partnered with local businesses and organizations (BBPA, University of Toronto's Black Students Association, Black Owned TO, City of Toronto, etc) to amplify our collective voice and create a bigger impact within our industry, leading us to our overall goal.
Our Mission
In Canada, traditional hair education does not address textured hair, leading to a significant gap in accessibility for BIPOC individuals. Empress Mane directly addresses this gap by providing high-quality, culturally authentic products and education to empower our community.
Our mission extends beyond beauty products to a holistic approach to well-being, aiming to heal on multiple levels:
- Medically: We challenge the industry’s reliance on harmful ingredients—like carcinogens in relaxers and synthetic braiding hair—by providing safe, non-toxic alternatives.
- Organically: Through partnerships with local charities and organizations, we offer educational resources and community initiatives like braiding workshops and wash-and-go events. These programs give our community the knowledge and support to care for their hair naturally.
- Mentally: We collaborate with agencies, government, and organizations to highlight the link between representation in textured hair care and improved mental health. Recognition of textured hair’s unique needs boosts self-esteem and self-acceptance, positively impacting psychological well-being.
- Holistically: Our products and tools aim to heal and protect textured hair from damage caused by poor-quality ingredients, supporting our customers in caring for their hair and skin safely and confidently.
